Final X Recap

Perspective Wrestling Final X Recap:

STILLWATER:

Overall I felt the event from a wrestling standpoint gave the viewer what they paid for. Lots of high level close matches, and that is all we can really ask for. First we will start with mens FS, results go as:

57 KG Gilman def Arujau

61 KG Gross def Fix

70 KG Retherford def Oliver

92 KG Cox def Jackson

97 KG Snyder def Moore

Notes: Gilman is a man compared to vito, although vito was able to put together scores. I think Vito has a lot of promise in this weight, but for the time being, it is Gilman’s. Fix looked solid round one, but Gross made some unreal adjustments to propel him to his first world team. Gross is an extremely crafty wrestler, so it will be exciting to see his style overseas. JO and Zain gave us exactly what we wanted as fans. Along with that, controversy arose regarding a call that JO was not happy about. He took to twitter and said this last night, “This Sport Is Politics✌🏼”. It is what it is, I didn’t care who got the spot but it would be cool to see JO and Zain both get world medals before they are done. Nate Jackson has made some drastic improvements, giving J’den all he could handle and more. I like this matchup in the future, because they will push each other constantly. JC showed a lot of grit, as well as giving us a look that he will be able to dig deep late in matches and find scores. Finally, Snyder/Moore is exactly how we thought it would all go. Not trying to be rude, but Collin Moore just isn’t even close to Snyder’s level.

Womens FS:

55 KG Jacarra Winchester def Jenna Burkert

59 KG Abby Nette def Lexie Bashman

65 KG Mallory Velte def Forrest Molinari

68 KG Tamyra Stock def Sienna Ramirez

76 KG Dymond Guilford def Yelena Makoyed

Notes: First off I wanted to say that Jenna Burkert is on our thoughts as she had to be taken away from the mat due to an injury. That sucks because it was one of my WFS highlight matches, but it is what it is. Dymond is a young stud who will fill in nicely once Adeline retires. Mallory Velte and Forrest had a brawl, this is an example of the type of depth we have within our women's team.

Men’s Greco:

55 KG Max Nowry def Brady Koontz

63 KG Jesse Thielke def Sammy Jones

72 KG Benji Peak def Pat Smith

82 KG Ben Provisor def Spencer Woods

130 KG Cohlton Schultz def Tanner Farmer

Notes: Our greco scene is rising and slowly gaining more and more stars. One of those young and upcoming stars is Benji Peak. Benji has had back to back standout events and hopefully can continue that into worlds. Jesse Thielke had a great showing taking out highly touted Sammy Jones. Really would like to see Jesse go get his first world medal. Finally, it's good to see high level NCAA wrestlers within the greco circuit ,with Schultz, hopefully we can get more of that.
