The Hawkeyes Did What?!

What is going on with the Hawkeyes?!

The Story:

Allegedly the Hawkeyes have used Spencer Lee’s father, Larry Lee, ALLEGEDLY to text athletes as a form of recruitment. The two stories involved so far include the Willits brothers, that wrestle at Oregon State. The other is unknown, but it is alleged he has an ACL issue and Larry contacted him and used the ACL as a startup conversation that later led into talks of transferring to the hawks and receiving $$$. I'm sure there is a lot more chaos then just this going on, but it will more than likely rip apart relationships that have been made within coaches in the NCAA.

My Thoughts:

The NIL is a new concept and were heading into our basically first off-season with it. You must expect people to take advantage of it, because their jobs are on the line to win team trophies. The longer we get into this new rule, the more regulations we will see from the NCAA. The ethical standard here is either to win and risk losing relationships with coaches or wrestlers, or organically recruit and maybe risk slipping in the ranks. I love this time in college wrestling, see this as a positive… its a journey
